Changing Door Knobs
People often get wary of their old door knobs and want to get it replaced as soon as possible, for they are mismatch to the décor of the door. But the common questions that worry them is how to change the door knobs? Some of them get it done by an expert carpenter whereas some other do this on their own. But often due to lack of knowledge they do it in a wrong way which results in the effecting of overall beauty of the doors.

Below are the tips that will help you in your knob changing pursuits. The first step involves the removing of the trim by taking off the screws. Trim is small metallic ring between the door and the door knobs.

Under the trims there are two more screws. Detach those screws under the trim. These screws detach the two doorknobs on either side of the door. Door knobs can now be easily removed. Take out the bolt that is still attached in the door by removing the screw.

Next step involves the removal of the metal strike plate attached to the frame around the door. This can be removed easily by removing the screw. However if it is hard to remove you can leave it.

Now take the new bolts and insert them into the door and screw them. Slanted side of the bolts should face the direction in which the door closes in.

Take the trim and place it between the door and the door knob now insert the door knob. On the others side of the insert the second doorknob and trim piece. The alignment of the two door knobs should be proper so that the long screws can hold them together. After this tighten the screws slowly and gradually and ensure that the doorknobs come together evenly.
