Hinges are an essential products that are used for opening and closing the doors. They are manufactured in different ways using different techniques. Extrusion is one of the process that is used by the manufacturer to produce hinges of fine quality and good strength. In this process the metal is first forced into the die under high pressure. One can use both process that is cold extrusion and hot extrusion process. Cold extrusion process is preferred most because they produce the metal with smoother surface.

Apart from extrusion forging and casting technique is also used for producing hinges. Once the hinges are given shape they are brought out for surface treatment which is done again through various process like metal cutting, abrasive process and non-conventional metal removing processes.

The qualitative production of hinges depend lot on the precision equipments that are used on it. The hinges are given either organic coatings or inorganic coatings for more durability and protection. However as there are many problems are attached with the organic coatings hence now the manufacturers have turned to inorganic coatings.
