Also known as Surface Deadbolts or Box Locks, Rim Door Lock are independent of the door knob. They are basically installed on the inner side of the door and the bolts are fixed into a corresponding leaf attached inside the door frame. Though they are mounted on the surface of the door, the body of the lock is visible from the side of the door on which they are installed.

Horizontal type of rim locksets are very common and consist of knobs, backplate, escutcheons and two keys. Screws required for installation are also provided with rim door locks. The deadbolt lever is inserted inside and also comprise of a reversible latch.
