Working Principle of Rotary Door Latch
There is a portion in the rotary latch member that employs a stationary
striker plate on the door jamb that makes the latch rotate when the door
moves to the closed position. The rotation of the latch causes a notch
in the latch to engage either side of a post in the striker plate. This
makes the latch member to continue rotating until the door is completely
closed by the interaction of the post with the notch. There is a
releasable detent member that locks rotary latch for further rotation in
either direction when the door reaches the fully closed position.
